Covenant Life Church was a church plant that began worshipping in July 2003 on the John Wesley Campgrounds in High Point. Pastor Brian Powell led the way along with guidance and help from Dr. Mike McClure and others. It was Pastor Brian’s heartfelt opinion that “the Lord is going to do great things through the CLC ministry” and that “CLC has so much potential, but it will not be up to one of us to make it work for good – it will be up to us all.” (Quotes taken from the Pastor’s Report of the first Church Board meeting in July 2003.) It has taken us all, but most of all, God has been with Covenant Life Church every step of the way!

After accepting a call from Raleigh First Church of the Nazarene, Pastor Brian passed the baton to Dr. Mike McClure and Pastor Doug Hopkins who continued to lead the church by the will of God. The Church said farewell to the Hopkins family when Pastor Doug and his wife, Dawn, accepted a call to Raleigh First Church of the Nazarene.  In a called board meeting on September 21, 2008 the church board unanimously voted in favor of calling Keith Parker as our senior pastor. We were sad to say goodbye to Dr. Mike and his family, but once again God was faithful to us as He provided a Godly man in Pastor Keith Parker to take up the baton and continue running the good race in the life of Covenant Life Church.

At a called board meeting on September 24, 2008 Pastor Keith discussed the future plans of Covenant Life Church. The board voted unanimously in favor of seeking to move into the Greensboro Rolling Roads Church building. God answered the prayers of His people, when on Sunday, October 5, 2008 Covenant Life Church held its first worship service in the new building which was once Rolling Roads Church of the Nazarene. No, it wasn’t really a “new” building, but it certainly was to the people of Covenant Life Church. A Dinner on the Grounds was held immediately following the worship service that Sunday. We had a total of 134 worshippers that special day! A congregational vote was taken on Sunday, October 26, 2008 and it was approved that Covenant Life Church would stay permanently at the Greensboro location.

On Sunday, November 16, 2008 Covenant Life Church held a Charter Membership Service where 61 members were accepted. Covenant Life Church was fully organized under the Nazarene Denomination on Sunday, December 7, 2008.

What a journey the Lord has carried us through so far! He has been faithful in every way and may we all continue to work together in the years ahead seeking to fulfill God’s vision for Covenant Life Church.
